| Mont Blanc: "The White Lady" |
 |
It is known not only as the Highest Mountain in the Alps, Western Europe and the European Union (~5000 meters), but also the deadliest. With temperatures as cold as -40F, tough passages and hazardous rock slides, the mountain claims more lives than any other. The first person to climb it did so in 1786, a climb that some say marked the advent of mountaineering itself.
And on June 1, after months of intense training, three men, including JOFD co-founder James Marshall, Gregor Nagele and James Veall, will be adding their names to the list of conquerors. The personally-funded trip, preliminarily involving the practice of Ice Arrests, rope work, climbing skills, avalanche training and three practice summits, will be the group's "one day" donation for The Burundi Solar Project.
